1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books

Are you ready for the 1,000 Books Challenge?

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1000 books (yes, you can repeat books) before your child starts kindergarten.

Does reading 1,000 books seem challenging? We promise it’s not as hard as you think!
3 books a day for 1 year = 1,095 books
1 book a day for 3 years = 1,095 books

How the program works

Register at the library or online. You will receive a welcome packet including your first reading log and a sticker sheet to track your progress.

For each book you read, color in a circle on your reading log or log the book online.

Each time you fill in 100 circles, come to the library for a small prize.

When you reach 1,000 books, you’ll get to pick out a book and receive a certificate of completion!
