Letters have been sent out to homeowners regarding 2025 backflow testing. Per the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy, and the Michigan State Plumbing Code require testing of backflow prevention devices every 5 years. These assemblies, typically found on lawn irrigation systems, prevent fertilizers, pesticides, animal waste, and other hazardous substances from contaminating the public water system and/or water inside your home. Letters will include instructions on steps homeowners need to take to contact a state approved certified backflow tester and where to submit your results once testing is completed. Thank you for your assistance in keeping our water clean and safe.
